Earliest 1900 Limoges plates, each hand painted with a pair of fish, framed in elegant lacework of gold and green – a set of 8 matching but each slightly different and nearly perfect plates. Thick hand applied gold rim is further jeweled with raised gold dots or ‘jewels’ will make this set truly dance atop your chargers at table. These have no utensil marks to indicate they’ve ever been used to serve fish, and I hesitate to suggest it for a fine antique set, but if you set them at table as your opener, then lift them to place a service plate with fish entremet or opening course, you won’t miss a single ‘AHHHHH!’ from any guest. As cabinet plates, they shimmer. A fine set. Very good condition, one has a tiny spot of paint gone on one fish (noted in our pictures) and could be touched up, but we’ll leave it to your professionals. Beautiful otherwise, and I see no chips, cracks or hairlines. By the way, when I bought this set, it was a set of 10. The seller packed them poorly and we lost 2 in transit. You are bidding on a Set of 6 Antique Carved Shieldback Inlaid Mahogany Dining Room Chairs. This is a RARE FIND because of its size, age and beauty and is an original Antique set that dates back to the earlier part of the 1900s and is Circa 1930 respectively and was American made of the HIGHEST quality the market had to offer during the time period. The set was carved from Solid Mahogany that was done with great depth and dimension to the details and the set consists of two arm chairs and four side chairs which all sit on beautiful straight tapered block legs with fluted trimwork throughout. The backrests all have a beautiful curved back splats with a nicely rounded top rail and beautifully carved Ancathus leaves that are nicely splayed at each chair and they were all carved from solid mahogany. The center of the splat has a beautiful oval lattice fan inlaid motif which was nicely bookmatched in Satinwood. The upholstery has a nice leather with beautiful brass tacked nailhead trimwork that is beautifully swagged around the edges an each chair is finished on ALL of its sides so they can be placed anywhere in a room as you can see the beautiful brass nail head trim design wraps around all of its sides as well. Please keep in mind the upholstery has some wear consistant with its age that may need to be professionally cleaned and tailored at your discretion. These chairs were carved from Solid Mahogany with beautiful Oval Satinwood Inlaid Motifs at the center with nice curve and contour from the top rail to the beautiful lattice work on each chair and all these added features give this set much charcater. They were beautifully made after Traditional designs of the 18th Century and this set was made with quality and craftmanship that is no longer found today and is an heirloom quality set with intrinsic value. We took a picture of the chairs with a matching table that is on a separate Ebay auction so you can better idea on what they look like and for those who may be interested the set. It has a beautiful and exotic naturally figured mahogany wood grain pattern as you can see in the pictures with nice Lattice Fan Motifs at the center of each chair that were all done in Satinwood which is another Rarity. This set was VERY WELL made with quality that surpasses ANYTHING that is made today and all wood construction but Please understand that this is an antique so it has some minor imperfections on it consistant with its age and overall its in excellent shape. The side chairs measure approx 36 inches high, 22 inches wide, 19 inches deep. The arm chairs are slightly larger and measure approx 39 inches high and approx 24 inches wide and approx 19 inches deep and they all sit at approx 18 inches in height.
